Actively participates in product development teams to represent Operations group. Recommends design modification and process changes where advisable to conform to production capabilities/limitations and minimize cost. Provides technical support in transfer of manufacturing lines to other Medtronic facilities. Assists in production scale-up of new products and solving related production issues. Assists in project planning and execution. Oversees the design and implementation of all special production machinery (jigs, tools, fixtures, machines, and handling equipment) to maintain manufacturing operations at competitive levels. Identifies opportunities for fixturing, automation versus manual operation. Reviews process yields and tracks defects with the Quality Department against cost of quality targets.
